Below are the answers to our most common questions about online mastering. Reviewing these will help you send the right files with the proper settings so we can deliver the best possible master.
1. What is mastering?
- Mastering is the final step in audio production where a specialized engineer balances, enhances, and optimizes your track so it sounds punchy, warm, and clear on every playback system—from car stereos to high‑end speakers.
2. Is mastering really necessary?
- Yes. Even great mixes benefit from professional mastering to ensure consistent volume and tone throughout the song. Without mastering, you may find yourself constantly adjusting your player’s volume to compensate for level changes.
3. How do I order and receive my master?
- First, finish your mix in your DAW and export a high‑resolution file. Then upload it via WeTransfer to services@seethenetwork.com. Our engineers will master your track and send it back for your approval. You can request up to five free revisions until you’re completely satisfied.
4. How should I prepare my session for mastering?
- Make sure your mix is final, bypass all bus‑processing plugins, and leave a little silence at the start and end of your track. If you have an instrumental version or extra stems, include those too. Export at the highest resolution your DAW allows and send us any notes or style references.
5. What’s the best way to deliver my files?
- Simply compress your stems into a single ZIP folder and upload via WeTransfer to services@seethenetwork.com.
6. How do I ZIP a folder on Windows?
- Place all your stem files in one folder. Right‑click the folder, choose Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder, and attach the new ZIP file.
7. How do I ZIP a folder on Mac?
- Put all your stem files into a folder. Right‑click (or Control‑click) the folder and select Compress. Attach the resulting ZIP file.
